70% of Russian companies face difficulties in finding new partners in foreign markets
14.12.2022 г.

At the site of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “PREU” G.V. Plekhanov” hosted the third International Foreign Economic Scientific and Practical Forum “Challenges and Solutions for Business” (hereinafter referred to as the Forum), organized by the Russian University of Economics. G.V. Plekhanov, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia and JUST group of companies. The Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation for Foreign Economic Activity (hereinafter referred to as the Council) took part in the preparation and holding of the event.

Chairman of the Council Andrei Spartak acted as a moderator of the plenary session of the Forum.

He emphasized in his speech that it is very important to ensure export growth by increasing the number of exporters, and not only by increasing the volume of supplies by traditional exporters to traditional markets. However, nowadays even experienced exporters face a lot of problems. A survey of foreign trade participants conducted by the Russian Chamber of Commerce showed that almost 70% of Russian companies face difficulties in finding new partners in foreign markets, as well as in entering new markets. And without the help of the state, without the support of the Russian Export Center and regional export support centers, this is not enough, the Chairman of the Council noted. Foreign free economic zones, as well as Russian industrial zones created in other countries, can become an important tool for moving into new markets. For example, great prospects for entering the markets of the ASEAN countries are opening up for residents of the FEZ in Vietnam, where there are already successful examples of the work of Russian companies.

The discussion was attended by leading experts, representatives of the scientific community, industry associations and development institutions. The main attention was paid to the discussion of issues related to global trends in foreign economic activity, imports and exports of Russia in 2022, state support measures aimed at reducing the impact of sanctions on domestic business, the possibility of parallel imports in the supply of sanctioned goods, the situation with payments under foreign trade contracts, the role of business associations in the development of the new economy and other topical issues.

A video recording of the event can be found on the Forum website.
