Exporting companies in Russia create more than 5.5 million jobs

In 2021, the number of jobs provided by exporting enterprises in Russia exceeded 5.5 million, Veronika Nikishina, Director General of the Russian Export Center (part of VEB.RF), said at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Economic policy dedicated to measures to support domestic traders in the face of sanctions pressure following the results of 2022.
Over the past six years, the number of companies that are non-commodity non-energy exporters has grown by more than 40%. This growth was primarily driven by small and medium-sized enterprises, which grew by more than 55%. Along with the number of exporters, the number of jobs that are directly associated with export activities is also growing.
