Mishustin allowed the import of goods to Russia without the permission of the copyright holders

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a document allowing the so-called parallel import – the import of licensed goods without the permission of the copyright holder – for some goods. Their list will be determined by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The purpose of this mechanism is to satisfy the demand for goods containing the results of intellectual activity. Until now, they could not be sold on the territory of our country without the permission of the copyright holder.

Recently, a law has been passed giving the Government the right to determine the list of products for which the international principle of trademark exhaustion is effectively established when it is sold by the owner in any part of the world. This approach will guarantee the supply of goods to our country, including despite the unfriendly actions of foreign politicians.

The list of products that can be imported into Russia under such a mechanism will be approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the proposals of industry departments.
