
Russia and India held the 2nd meeting of the joint working group on cooperation in the field of agriculture. The event was chaired by the Deputy Ministers of Agriculture – Sergey Levin and Manoj Ahuja. The parties discussed the development of trade in agricultural products and food, cooperation in the field of veterinary and phytosanitary supervision and the scientific field.
The trade between the two countries through the agro-industrial complex is systematically developing. As Sergei Levin emphasized, domestic producers are ready to continue working in this direction, expanding the range of supplies, including exporting pork and poultry meat. In addition, promising positions are peas, beans, chickpeas and lentils.
One of the important areas of cooperation is the work of supervisory agencies. Sergei Levin noted the need to build a constructive and mutually beneficial dialogue in this area. The Deputy Minister also expressed the readiness of the Russian side to develop cooperation with Indian partners through agricultural universities and research organizations, including within the framework of academic mobility programs and scientific conferences.
