Belarus accuses Lithuania of slow registration of trucks for departure to Belarus

Belarus accuses Lithuania of slow registration of trucks for departure to Belarus
15.04.2022 г.

According to the restrictions imposed by the EU countries, Belarusian and Russian cargo carriers must leave the territory of the European Union by April 16. The limited return period led to a significant accumulation of trucks on the adjacent side.

A tense situation is also developing on Lithuanian territory – many kilometers of queues are fixed to leave Lithuania for Belarus.

Despite the significant accumulation of trucks, Lithuanian control services do not fulfill the daily norm for registration of heavy trucks. So, over the past day, Lithuania issued 66% of trucks from the norm. As a result, the slow clearance of trucks and the increase in the time of inspections by the Lithuanian authorities are the real reasons for the long wait for the clearance of trucks moving from the territory of Lithuania to Belarus.

The number of trucks registered by Lithuania for entry into Belarus from 00:00 on April 14 to 00:00 on April 15:

  • Salchininkai (Benyakoni) – 171 (at the rate of 250)
  • Tvyaryachyus (Vidzy) – 108 (norm – 96)
  • Lavorishkes (Kotlovka) – 162 (norm – 250)
  • Medininkai (Kamenny Log) – 210 (norm – 500)
  • Raigardas (Privalka) – 225 (norm – 230)

The Belarusian side, in turn, issues exactly as many trucks as the neighboring side has released, and is ready to accept even more than the throughput.
