Today, 95% of mutual settlements between Russia and China are carried out in the national currencies of the two countries, said Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov in an interview with RIA Novosti.
At the same time, a slight decrease was noted in the trade between the countries in the period from March to April of this year. Thus, in March, for the first time since 2022, the total export of Chinese goods decreased. Many experts attributed this to the difficulty of settlement processes.
“As for the problem of settlements, let’s not forget that today they are already 95% carried out in rubles and yuan, that is, without the participation of currencies of third countries,” the ambassador explained.
Over the past year, trade turnover between the countries increased by 26.3%, amounting to a record 240.11 billion dollars.
